Do Delhiites Show-off?

Delhiites or WE "Dilliwalas" are pretty passionate about our city DELHI. But some of Non-Dilhiwalas think we show off most of the time. It is our right to show off each and every time.

But does it true?

As I am too a Dilliwala most of you will think I also love to show off my:

- Money

-Gfs

-Mobile Phones (especially those iPhones)

and

-Imported Cars and Bikes (The noise from Silencer).

Is that so? Does it really true?

Honestly speaking most of the Delhi people I observed as a writer has been trying to make a point that they are cooler and more open minded than the rest of others. They tried to show off their lavish lifestyle with null savings. But that doesn't mean all Dilliwalas are the same.

Most favorite lines of We Dilliwalas are:

1. Maa ki aankh a slang used when a person lands in a problem.

2. Kitne ki hai? (how much this price for?) used for every stuff you buy whether its a Pajama or a Branded Car.

3. Behanc**d (BC) an abusive word but on every one tongue whether it comes from a seven years old child or 70 years old grandpa you can listen this word very easily.

An outsider can't understand why a girl told her friends that she wore a 3K rupees tank-top which she actually purchased from a street in 150 rupees.

Lets have a look what I observed until now in so many years …

1) Dilliwalas are show-off  Comparing different states people as one is like saying that all wines taste the same! Delhi is a composite city of different cultures. Historically, people from different parts of the country have come to Delhi for jobs or business and settled down. So generalizing that all "Delhiites are showoff" is just plain stupid. Yes, sometimes we do see folks trying to brag about things they own but it’s not any different from any other city, anywhere in the world.

2) Dilliwalas only "think" they are cool – Apart from the list of famous people from Delhi. We don't think we are Cool we know we are! You think it is a Joke? I guess No! There will be section of people who'll always think that they run the city I am sure one who travel Delhi must experience this. You've met those folks, right?

3) Dilliwalas don't have any saving and they show off (Money/ Bikes/ Mobile phones) - That is completely NOT true. Personally, I save money. I rode a bike and took the public transport (shared autos, Metro, bus) to work and office. Apart from those chilled beer parties and raunchy hot dates.

4) Dilliwalas wear branded stuff – After visiting Lajpat Nagar or Sarojini Nagar Market or Palika Bazar probably the biggest street markets I've seen my views for branded stuff changed. Why these markets are always so busy if we wear always branded stuff?

5) Dilliwalas think South Indians are Madrasis  Really? I have NEVER in my life heard any Delhiite calling a South Indian a Madrasi. Yes, I've seen it many times on TV but never in real life and I've lived in Delhi since birth.
We do call a girl Babe, chick, katto, totta but calling a South Indian Madrasi, Neahhhh

We Dilliwalas generally are quite tolerant (especially in a city with such diverse cultures) and most of them are very friendly. One must proud to be a Dilliwala, If anyone of you had a bad experience, we really sorry and we apologize! It is after all, Dilli hai Dilwalo ki It is Dilli walo ka Shehar (The city with a big heart)
