A Sad Christmas Eve

Christmas should be the happiest time of year, an opportunity to be joyful and grateful with family, friends and colleagues. But not for our hero Sunny. One week before Christmas 2017 our hero in this story had just been dumped by his girlfriend.

‘You’re not quite right for me,’ she’d said in a text.

Sunny called her, thinking it was a joke but it was not.

First Love, break-up, end of the relationship. Love forever is gone. He was feeling battered.

On Christmas eve he tried to call her but she blocked her from everywhere. May be she was move on with some other guy, he thinks. He was sad, disappointed and right in the center of tinsel, twinkle lights, and towering holly, He lost it. The dam opened today in his living room and waterfall tears gushed out.

“Santa isn’t real. I am all alone. Bad luck is with me. Nothing goes right. What about my wishes and emotions?”

He cried and cried whole night. Every expectation that Christmas would show-well — was busted, like little shards of lemon pickle jar.

All hopes were crushed. A dream of a romantic week with her lady, with a bottle of mulled wine and adoring gifts was shattered.

Next day…

He wakeup. Those thoughts still striking in his mind. He was single and miserable, spending Christmas alone and her EX was enjoying with her family and friends.

“She don’t care about you”, his devil mind said.

He has no one with whom he can share his feelings. May be he want to share with his friends or family but he has “Trust Issues” now. Now he doesn’t want to trust someone so easily.

He moved toward the window and open the curtains. Though the sun was shining brightly but still the air was icy and sharp.
The first thing he did was replied everyone on Whatsapp who wishes him ‘Merry Christmas’ though they were few in numbers but sometimes numbers doesn’t matter. He wished them all.

He finished his breakfast. He sat in his small balcony and started reading a book. He took a nap in the noon.

Until now he didn’t feel lonely or sad but the main problem starts in evening. As the evening gets darker he started feeling alone and depressed. It is due to break-up or it is SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)?

May be it is due to unrealistic expectations and excessive self-reflection.

Finally, he decided to go outside. He doesn’t want to spent his night feeling excruciatingly lonely and questioning Why he was here on this Planet?

He landed in a nearby market where he lives. Whole market was shining, hundreds of fairy lights draped over trees and buildings. It was perfect.

There, from a small sweet 2 years old kid to 80 years old lady all were looking happy, enjoying this moment. Saying Merry-Christmas to each other. For a moment he forgets about his bitter life.

It’s 9 in the evening, the time was come for him to go home, but seems like he doesn’t want to leave.

After a long time, I see a smile on his face.
He is really happy from inside or is it a fake smile?

He is loving all this that’s why he doesn’t want to leave or he is afraid of that loneliness, which is waiting for him at home?

Will someone ever understand him?
Too many questions…

Let him live this moment, don’t disturb him.

Shhh…

Shhhh… shhhhhhhh….

Merry-Christmas friends.

Waiting for your comments.
